About Carroll Fowler Elementary

The school opened its doors in October 1957 to the first class of students.  Named after Ceres resident Carroll Fowler, the school has remained a cornerstone of the Ceres Unified School District.

Carroll Fowler Elementary School serves over 600 students in grades TK-6 and is home to the District’s Pre-School sites.  The school mascot is an Eagle, and the students and staff proudly show their school spirit on Fridays by wearing red and white.

On November 13, 2007, students, parents, staff, district officials, members of the CUSD Board of Trustees, and the community celebrated the 50th anniversary of the opening of Carroll Fowler Elementary School.  Members of the Fowler family were on hand in honor of this milestone, including Caryl Fowler (daughter-in-law to Carroll Fowler), Mary Fowler (granddaughter), Robert Fowler (grandson), and Jonah Fowler (great-grandson).  Former CUSD Board of Trustees member Eric Ingwerson attended Carroll Fowler School from 1959 to 1966.  Eric shared his very first report card with the crowd, pointing out that “learning to skip” was a skill required for promotion to the first grade.  “Education standards have come a long way since then. Today’s kindergarteners are learning a wide variety of academic skills that are quite different from skipping,” he said.  Michael Pratt shared with the crowd photos taken during the construction of Carroll Fowler School.  Even though Mike was a kindergarten student in the opening year, his uncle was one of the many people involved in building the school and kept a historical record of its construction through photos and documents.

Carroll Fowler also takes pride in being a tobacco-free school! Ample evidence has demonstrated the health hazards associated with the use of tobacco products, including smoking and the breathing of second-hand smoke. Therefore, following state and federal law and Ceres Unified School District Policy, Carroll Fowler Elementary School prohibits tobacco use anywhere and anytime on district property.

Carroll Fowler Elementary School does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
